Good morning,A more than one-million-dollar environmental cleanup is moving forward in Corning. State officials have approved a remediation plan for the former Gibson Scrapyard site, where contaminants including PCBs, metals and unexploded ordnance were discovered. The DEC will also study nearly 15 miles of the Chemung River and nearby creeks this year as part of an ongoing environmental investigation tied to Corning’s industrial past.New York State Police are investigating after a woman was struck by an SUV in Tompkins County. Troopers say the 44-year-old pedestrian was hit Thursday night on Van Kirk Road in Newfield and later flown to Upstate Medical Center for treatment. No charges have been filed.Meanwhile, GlassFest is returning to downtown Corning Memorial Day weekend.
