State Police arrested Staci Wind following the discovery of human remains hidden in a shallow grave near the Summit Lake area. Investigators say the victim, Ayla Wind, had been missing since mid-May. Police searching the campsite uncovered a nearby burn site containing human bones and a destroyed cellphone that matched the victim's description. The suspect remains held without bail.Meanwhile, Charleston police have launched a statewide manhunt for a fifteen-year-old boy wanted on a warrant for first-degree murder. Authorities say the teenage suspect shot and killed a seventeen-year-old boy early yesterday morning while the victim was sitting inside a vehicle on Washington Street West. Investigators believe the deadly shooting was an isolated incident stemming from a planned robbery attempt. Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to contact law enforcement immediately.And a Charleston man is behind bars this morning, accused of a massive crime spree targeting youth sports complexes across multiple counties. West Virginia State Police caught Adrian Pennington yesterday after responding to an active burglary at the Hamlin Little League facility on Lions Club Way. Detectives have already linked Pennington to several other break-ins, including similar sports facilities at Lincoln County High School and another complex in Ona. He faces multiple felony charges of breaking and entering.Turning to federal court in Huntington, a local man will spend time behind bars for trafficking deadly narcotics. Alante Omar Allen was sentenced to prison following an intense federal drug investigation. Prosecutors say Allen arranged and executed the sale of over twenty grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant outside a business along U.S. Route Sixty. Allen pleaded guilty to distribution charges.On the state level, Governor Patrick Morrisey has announced over one-million-dollars in critical funding and financing to launch major water and sewer infrastructure projects. The investment targets three major undertakings across Kanawha, Tucker, and Barbour counties. State officials say the projects will directly support flood recovery efforts for the Kanawha Public Service District, replace deteriorating waterlines in the City of Parsons, and fund a crucial secondary reservoir project in the City of Philippi.Motorists in the Northern Panhandle need to brace for localized traffic headaches starting today. In Weirton, transportation officials are advising drivers to avoid North Twelfth Street as crews completely shut down the corridor between Thurman Avenue and Kings Creek Road for urgent maintenance.
